Here is the best site I know of for working on a variety of music essentials: http://musictheory.net. Click on "Exercises" to access a variety of drills.

Percussionists (timpanists) in particular should use this drill for ear training: http://www.musictheory.net/exercises/ear-interval

You should be practicing with a metronome, which means you should own one. They are very inexpensive and available at your local music store, amazon.com, etc. There are several mobile apps available as well.
